We started the day off at the Cat Cafe in downtown San Diego. What a cute little establishment. You need to buy something in their cafe to get admission into the cat room but it was worth every penny. We got a few drinks and some snacks and walked into the room and were greeted by 12 cats with very strong personalities. Some wanted to play, a few wanted to be left alone and one even wanted to run on the treadmill! The idea of the Cat Cafe is brilliant. People can come here to play with the cats if they need a “cat fix” or they can hang out with the cat’s in order to decide if they would be compatible to adopt.

Once we had our fill of playing with the cat’s we drove to the Convention Center and parked. The Martin Luther King Prominade was next to the parking area. As we walked closer we saw an enormous steal sculpture by Melvin Edwards, called “Breaking the Chains” which gives testament to the hard fight for Civil Rights. Cat picked this rock and left it.

We walked around my old stomping grounds, the San Diego Marriott Hotel and Marina and then caught the ferry to Coronado Island. What a great way to get a boat experience at an affordable price. ($4.75) The ride took about 15 minutes and dropped you off at a little shopping plaza that had tons of food and snack outlets. We walked around a bit, bought fidget spinners and grabbed an ice cream before getting back on the boat and coming back.

One of the biggest yacht’s I have ever seen! The smaller boats to its left were still big boats. This picture doesn’t give it justice!

Our next stop was the 25th Street Musical Bridge.  An artist by the name of Roman de Salvo had the idea of creating a “song rail” which is a serios of chromatic bells that plays a tune when struck in sequince. Similar to running a stick along a picket fence, this musical bridge will play the song, “Crab Carillon” which was written just for this bridge and plays the same regardless of the direction you are playing.

We decided we should leave some rocks here as well.

We came home and relaxed a bit and then decided to grab my favorite pizza, Round Table, and go to my favorite place on this planet, Sunset Cliffs.  Although sunset’s are absolutely gorgeous at sunset, I normally try to avoid coming here then because of the masses of people. That said, the second the sun dropped below the waterline there was a mass exodus and the beauty of the spot was ours to enjoy by ourselves.

We came home, Cat made some amazing brownies and we called it a night! It was an amazing day!
