Sharing Kindness Rocks along our many adventures!

Lucerne

Lucerne is by far my favorite city in Switzerland. It has character, it has views of the Alps, it is on a lake. What more could a person ask for?

The Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge) is a wooden bridge in the middle of Old Town Lucerne. It’s got gorgeous flowers that line the sides of the bridge and stunning interior paintings. It is also the oldest surviving truss bridge in the world. We actually crossed it several times to take in it’s beauty. The pictures just don’t do it justice.

After a coffee and ice cream, we walked a mile on along the lake shore to enjoy the views. We even stopped at a playground to release some energy!

We fell in love with Swiss chocolate on this trip and decided that the Lindt Chocolate Adventure was something we needed to experience. Caitlyn navigated us to the address.  This monstrosity was in front of the building.  We didn’t realize that the Lindt Chocolate Adventure was actually inside of the Museum of Transport Switzerland. Although we didn’t go in the museum we did stop to read what this was. We soon found out that this tool is what is used to drill through mountains to make the many tunnels that are throughout Switzerland. It was massive in size and interesting to understand how it worked.

We had to wait an hour for our tour around the Lindt Chocolate Adventure and decided to try out some Swiss miniature golf. Even their miniature golf courses were green and lush and full of flowers. It was also a bit more challenging than American miniature golf courses but still a lot of fun!

The Chocolate tour was great. We sat in “chocolate balls” shaped like the Lindt truffles and learned all about the chocolate making process. The best part of the tour was the small hands that would come out of each stop of the ride with chocolate candies to eat. At the end of the tour we stopped in the Lindt gift shop and purchased a lot of chocolate to enjoy during the rest of our trip.

We did some shopping and got Cat’s souvenir. Earlier during our trip we saw a Swiss Army knife that had a cow on it. We spent an hour walking around town looking for this particular knife and finally found it at the Victorinox shop!

After a celebratory lunch my phone died. It is typical that one of the most amazing moments of the trip happened at this point. To be honest I am positive I enjoyed the moment more because of it. We stopped into the Jesuit Church of Lucerne. Although the outside wasn’t anything spectacular the interior was gorgeous. We decided to sit down to take in all of it’s beauty. Without notice, an opera quality choir started practicing from the second floor. We had no idea that they were there, but their voices gave us the chills because they were so beautiful. It was a moment I will always cherish.

We enjoyed Lucerne the rest of the afternoon and then drove back to Neuchatel to have a lovely dinner with H. Sadly our trip was coming to an end and we were leaving Neushatel the next day.
